1 Channel Touch Sensor
4 Channel Touch Sensor

4 Channel Touch Sensor

This capacitive touch sensor allows almost any small metal object to become a touch switch, controlling a variety of electrical devices via a 10 Amp rated SPDT relay. This is a four channel unit, meaning up to four separate metal objects may be connected, each through a single wire. Each of the four metal objects controls a separate relay output, with corresponding LED indicator.

The device works by detecting the change in capacitance that occurs when a person touches a connected metal object — the "electrode." With proper design of your sensing electrode, this unit can even detect proximity, or "near touch," through a variety of dielectrics such as plastic, wood, glass, or air.

This unit features automatic recalibration, eliminating the possibility of a "stuck on" sensor, and can also be configured for momentary or latching "toggle" outputs. The unit comes in a sturdy plastic enclosure with a variety of mounting options available, including integrated mounting feet and a DIN rail mount version.

A sinking transistor open-collector output model is available, providing 500mA of switching capability for low current draw devices and direct switching of microcontroller and PLC inputs, etc.

FEATURES

  • Allows any small conductive metal object to be used as a vandal-proof, weather-proof touch switch
  • 4 independent input / output touch switch channels, each with an LED indicator
  • True capacitance sensing, not AC “hum”
  • On board voltage regulator accepts a wide range of input voltages, from 8 to 24 VDC
  • Dry contact relay outputs capable of switching up to 10A @ 240VAC / 24VDC
  • Two-piece removable terminal blocks allow for easy wiring and reconfiguration
  • Touch sensor can be configured with jumpers to automatically recalibrate itself if "stuck on" after 10 seconds, 60 seconds, or only upon power up
  • Provides either momentary outputs or select the integrated toggle mode which makes all four channels into latching “touch-on, touch-off” switches, useful for continuous-on applications, such as a touch lamp
  • With proper design of your sensing electrode, this unit can even detect proximity, or "near touch," through a variety of dielectrics such as plastic, wood, glass, or air
